Seeing as how my last journal was about portfolio day, I'll start there. Thankfully, after getting ripped apart by my teachers, I got accepted into portfolio day. Every day after that was a wirlwind of working on pieces, sewing my costumes for it, and just generally getting ready. I made it just in time and got everything together in a beautiful way (which is an amazing surprise for me). The actual day was rather boring though. I talked to a good number of Reps from colleges, though SIUC stood out the most. They apperently have a great program in Art Education, and classes in costume design and make up which would be amazing! I'm going to be doing yet another year at the school I'm at though, so I'm planning to take a trip down next semester to take a look at the campus. There really isn't much to say about it though. It was really nine hours of sitting around and talking to random reps. :/
But, now that that's over, it's time to really focus on the end of school. my first big crit in my art classes is December 5th with this crazy project! We have to do a marble run (don't know wht that is? Google it.
I'm not sure when my next crit is for Drawing Three, and I'm not sure how it's going to go. My teacher and I have butted heads on every single project I've done this year. She hates everything I do, even when she approves it whole heartedly. And lucky me, she's teaching the class I need next year. .-. Ugh.
It seems like this year is seriously turning into a count down though. A count down until the crit. A countdown until this semester is over. A count down until I go on vacation to England (so excited!!). A count down to a friends wedding in the spring, and another the year after tht. Both which asked me to be the maid of honor, which means I'll be helping them work out a lot of things between school, work, and that lovely thing known as sleep. x.x Anyone else feeling like this year is slowly counting down?
In other much brighter news, DARKSIDE is really taking off. The script of the first arc is written and with my awesome editor now, waiting for approval. In the meantime, we're talking about producing a book in kind f the same style of Shojo Beat or Shonen Jump, but with short stories from each of our artists and writers. The idea is still on the table, though it looks like everyone is excited. Hopefully we'll vote yes and have a book out in the school's bookstore by early next year!
